APPENDIX ?
In late April 2023
Life changes fast, blink your eyes and you might find yourself going sideways! This is when we find out how our lives are going. Are we prepared, stable and organized for something we never ever guessed?
In our marriage I have always been the one sick. I’m the one who has always caused the grief & shock making Renee pull both our weight in life many times and as anyone who knows her, she does all this so amazing!
One day in no particular plan or order Renee mentioned her stomach had a sore area. We all get aches in our mid sections at times so we went on with the day. A couple days passed by and she still had the soreness but as we talked I began to understand it was more than sore, it hurt and the area was located on her right side.
Myself being the Jr. doctor/investigator ha, we talked about her appendix but wow, at 64 years old this could happen? Within 2 days later we found ourselves at an emergency clinic and the doctor telling us to get to the hospital immediately!
Now….. as we all know life nowadays is not like it used to be, we were shocked upon entering the emergency room ! An overwhelming number of sick, hurting and very discouraged people surpassing the seating of 64 with over 90 of us! Some throwing up in bags while others were moaning and crying. Those of us who were heathy enough, (????) we’re standing against the walls.
4 long and sad hours we finally Renee was put into a shared room where she could lay in a gurney and spend the night. By now she was truly hurting, anytime she moved was an overwhelming reminder something was very wrong yet the doctors resisted the idea of the obvious. Even after a long night with zero sleep nothing was moving forward.
It wasn’t till the whole new day was over, dinner came and passed, which Renee ate nothing when everything changed. Doctors rushed in, she was placed on a gurney and off to surgery she went, that fast!
Her appendix had ruptured, leaking into her intestines causing major irritation thus a super tough removal of her appendix. Her surgeon struggled over 2 1/2 hours to remedy the damage caused by this, wow!
After a total of 4 days in Hospital for Renee in which she never complained about anything, she was home again, very sore but home with me and our two kitties. The fact is God brought her through this and we’re all the better for the whole experience, again a reminder of every day is a thankful re-start.
I believe this all should of all been a slam dunk surgery nearly 24 hours earlier upon arrival to the emergency room but again, they hold the medical degree?
